Where Healthy Giant Schnauzer Puppies Come From

Giant schnauzer puppies should be well socialized before you bring them home. Usually, eight to twelve weeks is sufficient. These giant schnauzer puppies will have received the first round of immunizations shots and will have moved from mom's milk to solid foods.
Show quality puppies are not always known at this age, though. Some develop better characteristics as they grow. Usually though, the initial evaluation for conformation that is made at exactly eight weeks old best resembles the conformation of the dog as an adult. A few things can change and improve, and many times a "pet" puppy improves enough to easily become a champion.
The giant schnauzer puppy's bite should resemble a scissor like bite. Their a few times during fast growth periods when the bottom and top jaw might not align perfectly but knowing these stages one can expect slight variation over a period of time. The top incisors should overlap the lower one by just a bit. Gums for the giant schnauzer puppy should be pink and healty (and there's always puppy breath...who doesn't love puppy breath?)
The giant schnauzer puppy's eyes should have an "alert" presence...meaning they're clear and bright. Their pupils are dark and there should be no visible lines/white spots, which usually indicates congenital cataracts or retained fetal membranes.
Giant schnauzer puppy's ears - check the canals, are they clean? Do they have a sweet smell (yeah, use all your senses to check giant schnauzer puppy's). An irritant odor may mean ear mites. If the puppy experiences tenderness around the ears, that may indicate an ear canal infection.
Checking the chest, the giant schnauzer puppy's heart should feel energetic and strong. Their breathing should be effortless (unless of course they've been exercising extremely hard).
A couple of other hints for a healthy giant schnauzer puppy:
- healthy coats
- no excess scratching
- correct structure (or "posture" as we would say for humans)
- gait (smooth and free- forgiving the bumbling a puppy can exhibit)
