HSUS and Animal Rights

Donating to an animal shelter always gives one a feeling of doing something good for an animal that needs help. There are wonderful organizations that provide for homeless or abused animals. There are also organizations that APPEAR to do a lot of good, but in fact, do not have any shelters housing the homeless, but do in fact raise a huge amount of donations by having heart wrenching advertising. The one that first comes to mind is the HSUS. That stands for "the humane society of the united states". While their name implies "humane society" it is not a humane society as we have come to know them. They do not shelter animals, they do not provide a building to house abandoned animals, they in fact, make a very small donation to such facilities in comparison to the results of their fundraising and ad campaigns. Unbeknownst to most, the HSUS has an ulterior motive in mind, basically to outlaw ownership of animals. Being primarily a vegan organization (not eating meat/animal products) they wish to improve the lives of animals, basically allowing all creatures to be free to survive without confinement or individual management. This includes agriculture which, for many Americans, is a way of life.
