Giant Schnauzer Puppies and Allergies

Many people are attracted to giant schnauzer puppies because they are touted as being "hypoallergenic" dogs.  While giant schnauzer puppies are probably less likely to cause allergic reactions in a person, hypoallergenic as used with the giants is often misconstrued to mean the giant schnauzer puppies will not cause an allergic reaction.  Any giant schnauzer breeder will tell you there is no known breed of dog in the world that will not cause a reaction in any person.  The actual definition of hypoallergenic is having little, or less, likelihood of causing an allergic response.  So what makes giant schnauzer puppies less likely to cause an allergic reaction in someone who has a history of such a response to dogs?

It is believed that most people that are allergic to dogs are basically sensitive to a protein which is not only present in the saliva of a dog, but is also discharged to and present on the skin.  Almost everyone has heard of pet dander.  Pet dander is nothing more than dead skin that the pet has shed.  The protein on the dead skin, in the saliva and on the fur of the dogs causes some people to have allergic reactions.  Giant schnauzer puppies do not drool excessively and are a low-shedding breed of dog.  For these simple reasons, Giant Scnauzer puppies are labeled as a hypoallergenic breed.  It follows logically from the above that giant schnauzer puppies will be even less likely to cause an allergic response if they are bathed, clipped and groomed regularly to remove allergens, remove dead skin and reduce shedding.

Of course, every person will react differently to different breeds of dog.  Someone who is not allergic to giant schnauzer puppies may very well find themselves sneezing, sniffing and shedding tears around other puppy breeds.  Or the exact opposite may be true.  A person who has never displayed an allergy around puppies may find themselves uncomfortable around a giant schnauzer puppy.  For this reason, the best way - and arguably the only responsible way - to handle pet allergies is to spend time around the breed you would like to make a part of your family before bringing the puppy into your home.  giant schnauzer puppies will become as attached to their owner and family as the family will to the puppy.
Testing your allergies around the giant schnauzer puppies before bringing them into your home is an easy way avoid the disappointment and heartbreak of finding out after that attachment that the relationship will be marred by allergies.

Fanta C Giant Schnauzers usually has giant schnauzer puppies available for loving and caring families.   We encourage you to visit our home and spend time with our Giant Schnauzer puppies and adult dogs before making a decision to add to your family.
